My love of fitness started over 20 years ago when I started attending circuit training classes at the YMCA. I loved working out in a group, the music, and the way it made me feel afterwards. When we moved to Dorset, I decided that I wanted to do this for other people and started my journey to becoming a personal trainer and exercise instructor. 

I have loved seeing clients grow in confidence and strength. Often clients tell me that they have failed to make changes in the past and this had led to them feeling defeated and giving up. I try my best to help them fall in love with fitness the same way I did.  I teach them to make it part of a lifestyle that they’ll want to carry on with. The key for me is unlocking their motivation. 

I completely understand how hard it is to make time for exercise as I am a busy mum of 5 myself. I’ve had to find ways to maximise gains within as little time as possible. For me this has been through following a programme of “resistance training”. This is any form of exercise where you lift or pull against resistance. 

I never really understood the benefits of lifting weights until I understood that this would give me a more defined physique and help me burn more calories after my workout finished.  I’ve always loved cardio, but I realised that as I got older, I would lose strength if I didn’t build some resistance training into my workout. 

Lifting weights has also helped me deal with stress and gives me something to work towards as I see myself getting stronger. I feel more able to deal with the challenges that life throws at me and I have seen the same changes in my clients. There’s something very empowering about taking some control over your body.
